Since our founding in 1969, PFC Equipment has grown from aspecialty pump distributor to become the most complete source of fluid handling equipment and services.

Our approach is simple – propose the best solutions for our customers’ requirements. We currently represent and stock products manufactured by over 50 suppliers located throughout the world. Whether the fluid is water, JP-4 jet fuel, semi-conductor grade chemicals or bio-pharmaceutical products, the employees of PFC Equipment can help specify the exact solutions to meet the most demanding applications.

We are introducing this newsletter to help our customers stay informed of developments in our industry. Each issue will contain articles on our vendors, new products, technical tips and general developments at PFC Equipment. We hope you find it useful and informative. If you would like to see us include information on a related product or service, please contact us.
I would like to thank everyone who has been involved in the success of PFC Equipment over the last 30+ years. From our customers to our suppliers to our employees – when honesty and integrity are the foundation of a business relationship, everybody wins.

Milton Roy

Milton Roy is the world’s largest manufacturer of controlled volume (metering) pumps. The comprehensive line of water treatment and chemical metering pumps sets the industry standard for performance, accuracy and durability.

Since 1936, Milton Roy Company has concentrated its scientific, engineering and production resources on the development and manufacture of equipment and today more than 500,000 Milton Roy pumps are currently in service worldwide. Milton Roy’s diversified product line includes specialty pumps, new chemical process technologies as well as metering pump system components.

Metering pumps are available in single and double diaphragm designs, with a wide range of liquid end choices and enhanced drive mechanisms minimize maintenance requirements.
Electronic and pneumatic actuators allow for precise automatic capacity adjustment and remote stroke adjustment(s) can be provided via programmable controllers. Stroke adjusters maintain constant flow rates, at any setting and at constant speed, within .1% of the initial stroke setting.
Milton Roy is implementing Market Rate of Demand Manufacturing (MRODM) to serve our customers more responsively. As a result of our MRODM procedures, order fulfillment times have been slashed. 90% of current deliveries now occur within a single week. Recently installed solid modeling software dramatically compresses design time and we now move from design to pour casting in only four weeks.

We have created a dedicated aftermarket team to better serve customers. To support the tremendous number of Milton Roy pumps already on the market, we have developed a separate machine shop for our aftermarket team. This same team has been empowered to create a custom part for a 25-year old pump and deliver it in a week.

Additionally, Milton Roy provides superior customer service delivered through a worldwide regional office network. Milton Roy looks to the future bearing in mind the long-standing maxim of our co-founder Robert T. Sheen: “Our reputation, and therefore our success, rests on the quality of our products."

Did You Know?

1. A pump running backwards will still produce flow & head. Remember to check rotation.
By doubling the speed of a pump you increase the Total Dynamic Head produced by a factor of four. Contact PFC for more information.

2. That bulbs for UV lights come in two different wavelengths – 184 nm & 252 nm. Contact PFC for more information on ultraviolet disinfection systems.

3. If your pump sounds like it is pumping marbles, it’s probably cavitating. Contact PFC about cavitation and solutions to this problem.

4. PFC’s staff has over 200 years of experience selling and servicing fluid handling equipment. Contact PFC for all of your equipment needs.

5. Yamada air operated diaphragm pumps have a patented non-stalling, non-lubricated air valve. Contact us to answer all of your AOD questions.

6. ANSI pumps are available in ductile iron, stainless steel, CD4MU and Alloy 20. Contact PFC for more information.

7. Variable speed motors and drives can help you save on operating costs. Contact PFC about how to install these energy saving components in your system.

WebMaster

Walchem Corporation announces the release of the WebMaster® Series Cooling Tower and Boiler Water Controller. Based on a powerful multiple input/output platform, WebMaster® couples cooling tower and boiler water control with Walchem’s patent pending ShoulderTap® Server On-Demand Technology. The result is the ability to monitor and control your water treatment program from any computer, anywhere in the world, with a standard web browser. No proprietary software is required and with ShoulderTap®, WebMaster® is only connected to the Internet when you need to access it. On-Demand Technology reduces remote communications cost while providing safe and secure access to your controller. And, with four direct sensor inputs for pH, ORP and conductivity, WebMaster® can be configured specifically to match your system’s requirements.

With an embedded web server, WebMaster® utilizes standard TCP/IP Internet communications. Remote communications can be established with WebMaster® via the Internet or on a direct line with modem-to-modem capability. RS232 and Ethernet options allow easy on-site access for plant personnel and system operators. In addition, multiple users can access the controller simultaneously. A graduated password protection system allows users varied degrees of access from view only to full system configurations. In addition, WebMaster® delivers a range of user-friendly information reporting tools including e-mail notifications for datalogs, alarms and system summaries.

“Walchem has made use of the Internet, as a remote access communications platform for industrial control equipment, a practical reality. While others just attempt to reduce the cost of embedded web server hardware, Walchem has solved the problem of the high cost and lack of availability of a permanent connection to the Internet. Walchem’s “ShoulderTap®” Technology provides the only low-cost solution for using the Internet for monitoring and control. Not only is the technology low-cost, but by varying the Internet address of the fielded device, Walchem also provides additional security to prevent unauthorized access to customer equipment.” states Chris Harrises, President of Technical Solutions, Inc.

Walchem continues to be a leader in new product development of analytical control, sensing, and chemical feed technology.

As part of our multi-faceted approach to finding solutions for our customers’ requirements, PFC Equipment’s Service Department has a staff with more than 50 years of pump experience.

This first-hand knowledge allows PFC Equipment the ability to travel into the field to fix the most difficult situations or have the option of bringing the problem into our 5,000 square foot facility to repair it in-house. Dan Jenkins, Mark Brule, Dan Boria and Ron Beck each bring with them the ability to service, perform preventative maintenance, evaluate, test and repair pumps and other fluid-handling equipment. This four-pronged attack gives PFC Equipment an edge over our competitors.

Dan Jenkins, Shop Manager, has the skill and know-how to talk you through a simple seal change or create the solution for a problem of a difficult, multi-functional process. If a customer needs a question answered about a Grundfos pump, Mark Brule, a Certified Grundfos Repair Technician, can find the answer. Let the specialists at PFC Equipment solve your most difficult repair problems.
