New Product...Iwaki Walchem Mag-Drive Lined Pumps

To address the needs of chemical manufacturers and in applications where mechanical seals and packing are not desirable, Iwaki Walchem manufactures three lines of ETFE or PFA lined sealless magnetically coupled pumps.

Long before high purity chemical manufacturers accepted using sealless pumps, Iwaki Walchem's MDF-L pumps were serving the general chemical industry pumping a variety of acids, sodium hypochlorite and sodium hydroxide. MDF-L is a family of compact, close-coupled pumps incorporating a patented repeatable dry run technology (through 5 HP). Pumps equipped with the Patented Pinpoint carbon bearings can be operated dry run or against closed discharge valves without damaging the pump. ETFE fluoropolymer wetted materials give MDF-L pumps excellent corrosion resistance to handle the most difficult chemical processes. Designed for easy maintenance and inspection, the modular construction simplifies pump maintenance and reduces parts costs. Casing liners, impellers, bearings and thrust surfaces are individually replaceable. The MDF-L series is available with 1/2 to 5 HP motors, flows to 150 GPM and Total Dynamic Heads to 135ft.

The MDM series is a wide-ranging line of chemical process pumps designed to solve the most demanding chemical handling applications. Two materials of construction and convenient mounting configurations allow MDM to handle many different aggressive chemical and high purity applications. The MDM series is available with ETFE or high purity PFA liners. Bearings and thrust surface materials are either Carbon or Silicon Carbide. Utilizing the Carbon bearings, unexpected dry running won't damage the pump or interrupt the process. Our new design allows the pump to handle these situations with ease. For high purity process fluid applications the use of the PFA liners with Silicon Carbide bearings will not contaminate the process fluid due to the nature of these high purity materials and meticulous construction. The MDM series is available with 3 to 20 HP motors, flows to 325 GPM and Total Dynamic Head to 180ft.

Finally the MDE Series of ANSI B73.3 Magnetic Drive Pumps meet the most exacting specifications for magnetically coupled pumps. MDE pumps are designed and manufactured to heavy-duty standards which meet high levels of corrosion resistance, durability, efficiency and safety for aggressive and hazardous chemical applications. That puts them on the leading edge in quality, performance, and safety. Adding to our standard E-TFE material, the MDE is also available in PFA for higher temperature applications. All fluororesin casings are reinforced by ductile cast iron for additional strength. Proven monitoring options, selectable for specific applications, include containment shell leak detection, internal bearing temperature indication, drive magnet bearing wear alarm and dry run monitoring. MDM pumps are available with 5 to 60 HP motors, flows to 310 GPM and Total Dynamic Head to 330ft. The MDE not only meets, but also exceeds the call for smart, sealless pumps.

Contact the application engineers at PFC Equipment to see which series of Iwaki Walchem pumps is best for your application.

Did You Know?
  • To convert cubic feet to cubic centimeters, simply multiply X cubic feet by 1,233.
  • Viscosity can be measured in centipoise and is the resistance of a liquid to sheer forces.
  • Latent Heat of vaporization is the amount of energy it takes to turn water from a liquid to a vapor.
  • Dry ice is an example of sublimation or the act of a solid changing to a vapor without becoming liquid.
  • A thixsotropic liquid's viscosity is lowered as more sheer energy is added and a dilatent liquid has just the opposite outcome.
  • Heat Capacity is the amount of heat required to raise the temperature of one mole or one gram of a substance by one degree Celsius without a change of phase.
  • The longest point in Table Tennis tournament play was two hours, twelve minutes played in 1936.
  • At 1800 rpm, a motor develops 3 lb-ft per horsepower of torque.
  • To convert Total Dynamic Head (TDH) to psi, simply divide TDH/2.31 and multiply by the Specific Gravity (SG) of the liquid.

ISMATEC

For more than 35 years, Swiss pump manufacturer ISMATEC SA, has been known worldwide for its innovative leadership in precision metering and dispensing pumps.

Specializing in flow rates from 0.4 µl/min to 13 l/min, ISMATEC'S complete product line of pump and panel systems including peristaltic, gear and piston pumps, is ideal for laboratory, industrial and OEM applications.

ISMATEC's peristaltic pump line includes single and multi-channel pump systems with pumpheads up to 24 channels. The outstanding advantage of a peristaltic pump is that the media remains in the tubing throughout the whole delivery process and never contacts any mechanical part. Independent University studies in Switzerland have shown that ISMATEC pumps are superior for cell concentration and cell viability due to their unique concave tubing bed and convex roller design.

ISMATEC's multi-channel, peristaltic pumps, which include the IP/IPC and Reglo pump systems, guarantee almost pulseless pumping and are available with 4, 8,12,16, and 24 channels to cover flow rates from less than 1µl/min to 68 ml/min. The single-channel peristaltic pump line, comprised of the Ecoline and the IP 65 protection rated Flowmaster and MCP drive with a Pro 280 pumphead, features cell (and media) sensitive pumps that cover flow ranges from 0.072 ml/min to 13 l/min.

For gear pump configurations, ISMATEC drives are magnetically coupled to a wide range of MICROPUMP gear pumps. Gear pumps offer virtually pulseless flow and differential pressures up to 75 psi making these pumps irreplaceable for many applications.

The ideal choice for many delivery processes is an ISMATEC'S pump drive. The drives are equipped with 2 or 3-digit potentiometers for accurate and repeatable speed settings and an analog interface for remote control. For dispensing purposes, a wide range of microprocessor-controlled drives is available to offer various dispensing and calibration functions, as well as RS232 interfaces for PC connections.

ISMATEC'S MCP Process drives, with 4 program memories, offer the unique feature of stand-alone execution to allow the storage of individual PC-created programs. The MCP Process drives come standard with IP 65 Protection Ratings making them ideal for rugged washdown applications or in environments where dust-tight protection is critical. The MPC drives are available in peristaltic, gear, or piston pump configurations.

FSI Felt Filter Bags

When it comes to felt filter bags, FSI has the answer. FSI felt bags are designed to withstand higher solid loading, and are suitable for applications using both vessel or open filtration systems. FSI filter bags are the leaders in the industry for many reasons. FSI's integrated technology manages the production of every filter bag, from fiber processing to the manufacture of the felt all done in-house, on to the final creation of the finished bag, guaranteeing the highest quality.

Our felt bags come in a variety of materials: polyester, polypropylene, nylon, nomex, and Teflon®. A wide assortment of collar and ring types are available to ensure compatibility with most bag vessels on the market. Most FSI filter bags come standard with the patented Polyloc® sealing ring. Our Polyloc ring provides a complete hermetic closure, and its self-aligning design eliminates the sealing concerns of traditional steel rings.

PONG / PENG The FSI PONG (polypropylene, noninserted glazed felt) filter bag is one of the most versatile and popular bags on the market. Made from a non-inserted polypropylene felt with a glazed surface finish, the standard bag incorporates and the Polyweld welded seam design. The Polyloc ring provides hermetic sealing, preventing steel ring bypass problems. And the welded seam eliminates unfiltered liquid bypass occurring due to needle holes. The PENG filter bag is made from non-inserted polyester, and comes with the polyester Polyloc ring.

MAX PONG The PONG Heavy Duty Extended Life Filter Bag (MAX PONG) is the leader in high-efficiency, low-cost filtration. Its seamless micro-fiber cartridge insert removes trace oils that frequently occur in process fluids, and provides four times the dirt-holding capacity of conventional polypropylene bags.

POEX / PEEX - Extended Life Filter Bag The Extended Life filter bag (POEX and PEEX) provides outstanding performance on many types of contaminants (such as gels, particles with wide ranges of sizes, and with various irregular shapes). The coarse pre-filtering layer is designed to provide long service life, capturing a large amount of contaminants without excess surface loading. The POEX has been field-proven to hold at least twice the amount of contaminants than a standard felt bag, reducing waste volume and bag changes.

It's clear that FSI has almost every kind of filter bag, ready when you need them. As a fully-integrated manufacturer, FSI also provides you with the source for all your custom filter requirements by designing and manufacturing filter bags to your specifications for I.D., length, material and core materials. From non-traditional sizes and material, multi-layer construction, individual bag packaging, to bulk and rolled felt, our flexible manufacturing can make it happen.
